November 11, 2004: IT Leader Forum "Information Technology as Leverage to Achieve Strategic Business Goals" was held at Theatre Center on Strastnoy Boulevard, Moscow. As information technology becomes ubiquitous, IT professionals face more difficult and varied issues. The IT Leader Forum organized by CROC, the Russian Managers Association, and RosBusinessConsulting, offered comprehensive information for decision-makers on vital IT-related issues.

Boris Bobrovnikov, Director General, CROC, opened the Plenary Session. In his address Mr. Bobrovnikov noted that the role of IT in the establishment of effective management procedures for the business and the government had increased.

Robert Farish, IDC Regional Manager for Russia, Ukraine and Central Asia, attached great importance to the government's influence on IT development in Russia. In his presentation Mr. Farish described the Russian IT market and presented intriguing facts and a market forecast. Mr. Farish noted that short-term development prospects in the Russian IT market were favorable, but corruption was one of the major impeding factors. In 2005, PC market forecasted growth was 23%, and IT market forecasted growth was 27%.

The IT Leader Forum included 4 Panel Sessions: “Grid Computing or Consolidation of Computing Resources”, “Alternatives to Open Source Software and Commercial Software”, “IT Infrastructure Management System: Benefits of Implementing an Integrated Vs. a Distributed System”, and “What IT Services Should Be Outsourced?”
