Business Trip 2008

Business Trip

May 24-27, 2008: The Business Trip to Istanbul, Turkey, was held among the Sixth Annual National IT Leader Prize participants for a total of 150 people (CIOs from Russia's largest businesses, directors of analytic agencies, and journalists from industrial and business mass media).

The program included a roundtable devoted to 'The Cost of Business Continuity' and a number of visits to the largest Turkish corporate businesses. Istanbul Stock Exchange, the only securities exchange in Turkey, showed visitors the IT services that support its operation; MED Nautilus Network, international telecommunications carrier of DWDM trunk, presented its high-tech infrastructure inside a new intelligent office building. Visitors had an opportunity to examine IT infrastructures at DenizBank and Finansbank, Turkey's largest banks, and to observe how the call center operates at Global–Bilgi, Turkey's largest CRM center.

The roundtable was devoted to two vital topics: "The Consequences of Mistakes in Business Continuity Maintenance Utilizing IT" and "Administrative Difficulties in Dispersed IT Systems Management." Participants of the first discussion concluded that IT tools can provide business continuity only if business processes have been clearly described and prioritized in terms of continuity. They discussed how to provide IT systems continuous operation in an era of qualified personnel shortage and talked about the role of IT security in the general business security system. During the second session participants discussed problems related to partial automation and SOA capabilities for the management of separate IT systems, and shared their opinions on how to evaluate the success of an integration project.
