IT Leader Forum

October 15, 2008: The Fifth Annual IT Leader Forum was held in Moscow. The Forum brought together 200+ CIOs from major Russian businesses, recognized international experts, journalists, and industry analysts.

The Forum theme was "IT as a Tool to Increase Business Efficiency in Key Segments of the Economy." Presentations on IT trends and ways to align IT with business goals were given by Diego Lo Giudice, Principal Analyst, Forrester Research; Robert Farish, Regional Director in Russia and CIS, IDC; Andrey Korotkov, Doctor of Economics, Head of the Department, Moscow State Institute of International Relations and the Academy of National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation; and Boris Bobrovnikov, Director General, CROC.

"The CIO's role in modern business has changed," said Robert Farish during the presentation. "Today the CIO must think more like a CEO of IT than a CTO. A CIO must use IT performance metrics that are clear to financial managers and maximize IT staff productivity."

Participants of the IT Leader Forum had the opportunity to discuss topical business issues in new economic conditions during industry-specific roundtables for the Manufacturing, Banking and Finance, Oil-and- Gas, Transportation and Logistics, Retail, and Energy sectors.

"Events like the IT Leader Forum are of paramount importance as they showcase best IT practices," - said Theo Zuijdwijk, Head of IT Development and Business Consulting, Eastern Europe, British American Tobacco. "Forum discussions help you learn about modern IT practices from professionals and select optimal solutions for your own business."
