IT Leaders Discover Spring

April 24, 2013

The Eleventh Annual National IT Leader Prize Award Ceremony was held on April 22, 2013 at Event Hall Shelk (Moscow, Russia). The prize winners selected by the Expert Council in twenty-one main and four special nomination categories were announced at the ceremony. Approximately 400 people attended the event: top managers and IT executives of major Russian companies, directors of Russian branches of global IT corporations and journalists from the leading media.

The IT Leader Prize winners are: the Government of Moscow, OAO Mosvodokanal, Federal Treasury of the Russian Federation, Moscow City Court, Russian State Oil and Gas University named after I.M. Gubkin, VTB 24 Bank, Otkritie Bank, Home Credit & Finance Bank, AlfaStrakhovanie, Severstal, Gazprom Neft, OAO Federal Grid Company of the Unified Energy System, AC ALROSA, Russian Helicopters Holding, Volkswagen Group Rus, Yota, STS Media, Protek Implementation Center, OAO Russian Railways, the Seventh Continent, and Kraft Foods Rus.

Special nominations were awarded to: Bashneft Joint-Stock Oil Company, the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM, M.Video and Federal Highway Agency.

The ceremony was devoted to spring and business awakening, and its slogan was “Discover IT this spring with the IT leaders!” The event started with Andrey Bartenev’s performance Winders Jump Into the Summer and featured music show by GURU GROOVE FOUNDATION.

Official partners of the IT Leader Prize are: IBM in Russia and the CIS, HP Russia, EMC, Microsoft, Hitachi Data Systems, Symantec, Cisco, and Polycom.

Andrey Potemin, Head of Automated Process Control and Communications Systems, OAO Mosvodokanal (the winner in the ‘Improvement in Social and Cultural Life category): Mosvodokanal supplies water to over 13 million people in Moscow megalopolis, so we must act quickly and make immediate decisions in case of emergency. This is why we really need tools to be proactive in root cause analysis. The system which collects data from more than three thousand sources, including virtual, redefined the professionalism of central control unit operations.

Mikhail Martynov, Senior Vice President and IT Director, Otkritie Bank (the winner in the Commercial Banks category): In this industry, we have to struggle for each and every customer, and we have over 3 million physical and 120,000 legal customers. Therefore, our investment in the incoming and outbound call management system that has improved customer interaction is entirely justified. In addition, we operate an automated antifraud solution to secure our Internet banking transactions. We are determined to implement an infrastructure monitoring system, outsource ATM network servicing, and plan multiple other initiatives as well.

Dmitry Chibisov, Head of Information and Communication Technology Administration, AK ALROSA (winner in the Mining Industry category): It is important for us that our IT specialists were recognized by the IT Leader Prize Expert Council. Mining enterprises can hardly compete with financial or retail sectors where IT evolves very quickly. However, the speed and quality of business processes in the mining sector also depend greatly on IT implementation. For example, we launched an ERP system last year to cover all financial and business activities, and 17 of 37 structural units already operate it.

Igor Zykov, Director of IT Development Department, Russian Helicopters Holding (winner in the Machine Building category): The IT Leader award for the past year is really meaningful: we have developed an IT strategy, created modern IT infrastructure in our new scientific center of 43,000 m2 floor space, implemented an enterprise multimedia system, and completed a large-scale budget execution control solution which covers 11 holding enterprises. We plan to continue IT adoption this year.

Alexander Pershutov, Director of IT Service, OAO The Seventh Continent (winner in the Retail category): Our business largely depends on IT, therefore we have very high requirements to our technology projects. In 2012 we migrated 2,500 employees into cloud enterprise email system; thanks to the project, mailbox increased to reach 25 Gb, while we saved on avoiding the need to buy new equipment. I am glad that our work was recognized and acclaimed.
