The 12th Annual National IT Leader Prize Award Ceremony was held at New Manege, Moscow, Russia. This year, the event brought together approximately four hundred people – CIOs of the leading Russian businesses, representatives of major global vendors, journalists, and analysts. The prize winners selected in twenty-one regular and one special nomination categories were announced based on the 2013 performance.

The winners in regular nomination categories are: Government of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation, UMMC (UGMK) Technical University, VTB 24 Bank, Orient Express Bank, Nordea Bank, SOGAZ Insurance Group, Severstal, Tatneft, Moscow Integrated Power Company (MOEK), Polyus Gold, United Aircraft Corporation, VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus, MegaFon, Tricolor TV, Russian Railways, M.Video, Mondelez Rus, and SIBUR. The special nomination award went to Uralkali.

This year's Award Ceremony was devoted to IT innovations, and its slogan was "Design a New Reality with IT". The prizes were made using high-tech 3D printer. The hall was decorated with illustrations of achievements and inventions made by the Russian scientists in the beginning of the 20th century, and with a pinscreen—special animation technique where a screen is pierced by pins that can slide back and forth to create dynamic images. The program featured 'Shrimp of Shostakovich' performance by Andrey Bartenev, a piece from the Chroma ballet performed by the Bolshoi Ballet soloists Artem Ovcharenko and Anna Tikhomirova, and a concert by Tinavie band.

Arkady Zatulovsky, IT Director, Nordea Bank (winner in the Banks with Foreign Participation category), "Our activities must comply with Swedish and Russian regulatory requirements, therefore, we are twice as careful when it comes to implementing various systems. It is paramount that all clients of Nordea Bank Group—over eleven million clients all over the world—enjoy consistent service level. There are a lot of new IT projects. We implemented unified centralized ABS, Service Desk and launched the first stage of a new credit workflow during the previous year alone. We are happy that the IT Leader Prize Expert Council awarded our performance."

Vladimir Gusev, Director of IT Center, Moscow Integrated Power Company (winner in the Power Industry category), "Last year was a great time for our IT: We improved document management with five times reduction in company's expenses through ERP system upgrade, and intensively enhanced enterprise information system. I hope that we partially dispelled a popular myth of major holdings' sluggishness and rejection of innovations. Thus, we are very pleased and proud to be awarded the IT Leader Prize."

Andrey Timoshkin, Director of IT Department, United Aircraft Corporation (winner in the Machine Building category), "Information technology is a business critical element for the corporation. During the previous year alone, we deployed a budgeting system, constructed the unified enterprise data network and launched a container-based data center. I hope that there will be no reduction in professionally challenging projects in the future. The IT Leader Prize award means the success of all the staff at the corporate center of the United Aircraft Corporation.

Roman Gotov, IT Director, Tricolor TV (winner in the Media Companies category), "Today someone said that media companies are accustomed to innovations, and it is true. Continuing growth of our viewing audience increases requirements to business systems. For example, budgeting and payment control system we implemented last year facilitated budgeting and improved current cost transparency."

Andrey Popkov, Head of SAP ERP and BI Support and Development Department, IT Directorate, M.Video (winner in the Retail category), "We worked hard in 2013: deployed a data warehouse where approximately 2.5 billion information lines are processed within just 30 minutes, and achieved over 100 times faster commodity balance reporting. Our marketing team can now segment the client base, prepare and evaluate marketing campaigns in a more efficient manner. We used the other solution to reduce long-distance transportation costs, and implemented information leakage prevention system covering mobile devices as well. I believe that the above efforts have also contributed to our position as the leader in the Russian electronics retail market and one of the major European companies in this segment."

The IT Leader Prize Official Partners are: HP, Microsoft, EMC, Polycom, Symantec, Dell, BMC Software, and CSD.
