IT Leaders Strive to Address Restriction Challenges

October 14, 2014

The 11th IT Leader Forum
was held in Moscow and focused primarily on changes that executives and IT professionals can make in the current economic environment in order to address market restriction challenges. The forum brought together 200 attendees and approximately 250 people watching via online broadcast, including: top managers, IT directors and CIOs of major businesses, as well as industry experts.

The special guests of the forum were Kjell Nordström and Jonas Ridderstråle, professors at the Stockholm School of Economics and authors of the bestsellers Funky Business and Re-energizing the Corporation. The plenary session of the IT Leader Forum was moderated by Maxim Kashulinsky, Director General, business portal.

"The contemporary global village is connected – technologically, economically, politically and physically – to an extent that makes anything depend on everything else. Therefore, today we need new principles for business management and a special strategy focused on particular features and innovations, including information technology, and leadership," said Kjell Nordström in his welcome speech.

"We can hardly say that Russian business development today reflects that of Western companies. In addition to economic recession, our companies have to deal with the significant adverse impact of extra-market factors, and at the IT Leader Forum we have discussed how certain organizations operate and develop in the current environment by diversifying production, looking for new target markets, rolling out new services, increasing customer loyalty, or optimizing costs," added Maxim Kashulinsky.

"A large subscriber base, powerful data centers, end-to-end control over service quality, various communication channels for promoting new online services, and operations in almost all post-Soviet states enable VimpelCom even now to offer corporate customers a wide range of cloud solutions, including hosting, video conferencing, and mobile device management, thus meeting almost all of the IT and communication needs of large, medium and small businesses," said Andrey Batalov, IT Director in the CIS, VimpelCom, while sharing his experience in penetrating adjacent markets.

"Businessmen often consider communication with banks to be a routine process, and we strive to save our clients' time by making such communication more convenient and simple via the implementation of various innovations, including mobile banking with extra functionality; mobile acquiring; 'Photo payments' application for the automatic generation of payment orders; and a 'Solution creator for business' application that helps conduct online consultations and select individual solutions customized for client businesses," said Roman Gavrilov, Managing Director for Small Business, Life Financial Group.

"I explained to attendees at the IT Leader Forum how to reduce costs using IT. In addition, referring to the enormous 'Vysota 239' project, we discussed available technologies which allow for the automation of both accounting and production processes, and dramatic cost savings—something that is now vitally important," said Denis Savenkov, Director, Information Technology Center of Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant.

The organizers of the IT Leader Forum were the Russian Managers Association, iBusiness, iOne, Kommersant Secret Firmy and Intelligent Enterprise Magazines, and CROC.
