New IT Leaders Announced

April 22, 2011

Today the Award Ceremony of the ninth IT Leader Prize, the only Russian award in the IT market, was held at Autoville center in Moscow. The ceremony brought together more than 500 IT industry representatives, including executives, IT directors and CIOs from Russia's largest organizations as well as directors of global IT vendors' branches in Russia and the industry and business media.

The Expert Council announced the winners of 2010 in 22 main nomination categories. They are: the Federal Service for State Statistics, Office of the Government of the Perm Territory, Federal Service for Tariffs, Russian Space Systems, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Sberbank of Russia, Soyuz Bank, Raiffeisenbank, Rosgosstrakh, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, RUSAL, Bashneft, System Operator of the Unified Energy System (SO UES), Atomredmetzoloto, Sukhoi Company, KAMAZ, VimpelCom, Video International, Sochi Airport, and M.Video.

In special nomination categories, the winners are: TRUST National Bank, X5 Retail Group, MegaFon, PWC and SPb CIO Club.

The key concept of the 2011 award ceremony was Drive on. Rare old-timer vehicles were demonstrated to the guests. A concert by A Studio band culminated the event.

HP and EMC are official partners of the Prize.

Sergey Enyutin, Head of IT Administration at Raiffeisenbank, the winner in the Banks with Foreign Participation nomination category, says, "2010 was a highly productive year. We managed to considerably simplify and accelerate customer service and dramatically improve the efficiency of business processes—all thanks to a number of IT projects, including an IT infrastructure project to integrate all cash services for individuals and legal entities into a unified front office, a new debt collection system implementation, bank server virtualization, and launch of a new site based on a leased data center in Moscow".

Igor Ivanov, Chair of Theoretical Information and Computer Sciences, Bauman Moscow State University, the winner in Educational Institutions nomination category, says: "For the Bauman University, the IT Leader Prize is a symbol of development. Every year young people come to the Bauman University to receive education through sciences, and they expect that the university will offer them high-level technology deployed at R&D departments in the years to come. 'Drive on' is a very true concept, and I support it completely: evolution and continuous advancement is critical not just for IT, but for the science in general. People shall not be afraid of innovations; by contrast, you they shall go towards them. Indeed, this is why today I am standing on this stage as a representative of the Bauman University with the IT Leader award in my hands".

Valery Ermakov, First Deputy Director General for Operations, Megafon OAO, the winner in a special nomination category, comments, "Megafon always strived to be the first in creating something new. We are the leader in 3G coverage in Russia and plan to make 3G services available to 95% of the population in this country by the end of the year. Megafon deployed one of the most powerful backbone networks in Russia with more than 20,000 base stations in 2010. We are happy that our efforts were recognized by the IT Leader Prize, a great project which publicly stimulates and encourages innovations in the information technology".
